2015 Prospects

What an exciting time the beginning of a new year is! So full of freshness! So open to all types of possibilities! Think about that! You have a whole new year, a whole new start! And here we are the first full week of 2015 is officially underway! Like many other families with the beginning of the New Year, and all it’s probability, we decided to sit down and intentionally dream big about what God might hold for us in this new season. But anyone who has ever made some dreams also knows the importance of setting some measurable goals to go along with those ideas. We’ve been following this process our entire marriage, and though some dreams take longer then others to realize or may change all together, we really can not stress the importance of goal setting when it comes to mapping out what you want your life to look like for the next year. The point being that the dream is where you want to be eventually, but the goals you set are the steps you are going to take that turn those dreams into realities. Again, this is not to say that sometimes dreams don’t change or the goals we set towards those dreams might take longer then we had thought. But if we are going to achieve something we need to have a plan. That’s really all this is about. Just making a plan for our life, family and marriage in accordance with God about where He is leading us, and in obedience, working intentionally towards it. At the same time though remembering to be flexible with the unseen circumstances that God will indefinitely bring our way and adjusting that same plan to whatever He calls necessary each time things change.

That being said there are seven major areas of life that we like to talk through in the beginning of the year, as well as through out the remainder of it, to kind of set the pace for the future. In no particular order they are:

  1. Spiritual
  2. Intellectual
  3. Career
  4. Social
  5. Family
  6. Physical
  7. Financial

There were a lot of big life changes that came our way in 2014 including a move, company/career changes, expanding our finances and much more that lead to many other personal changes within our family. We knew then, just as we do now, that if we aren’t careful with our decisions, purposely praying for wisdom and God’s guidance on what He wants us to do with what He has given us, that what is meant to be a blessing can quickly become a burden.

That being said out of encouragement and accountability we’d like to share a few of our resolutions for the next year with you, our readers to inspire faith and trust in what God can do! So here they are, again, in no particular order of importance.

The Pomeroy Family Goals/Resolutions for 2015:

  1. Read at least 1-3 books that will grow us as individuals as well as a couple every few months.
  2. Live a less digital life. Which means being more present in the present moment with those around us instead of those on a screen.
  3. Be more intentional with the friendships that God has blessed us with and work towards continual growth and strength in those relationships.
  4. Choose even healthier decisions then the ones we already make, such as cutting back our daily/weekly sugar intake. This is already proving to be quite a challenge for Blair’s massive sweet tooth!
  5. Branch out more and try new experiences together both big and small ones, but continue to relish the beauty in the steady flow and consistency of everyday life together.
  6. Continue praying over one another each morning and with each other each evening, but be more intentional about asking one another what we can pray for in specific throughout the day when we aren’t together.
  7. Be more intentional about being in Gods word as a family as well as discussing what we learn with each other and putting it into practice during the day to day.
  8. Work towards putting down more permanent roots in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati area since this is where God has called us for the present and foreseeable future.
  9. Continue being wise stewards of all God give us to manage and having hearts that over flow in thankfulness and gratitude for what we have been given, but also work towards growing more generous hearts for those around us and each other.

Of course these are not all of our goals for the year that God has laid on our hearts, but as we mentioned earlier, just a few. The few that are general enough to not be over personal, to not share with the entire world what God has spoken just between the two of us in the confines of our sacred relationship with Him, but are still open enough to inspire accountability, support, faith and encouragement.

So what about you? How is God going to use you in this next coming year? In what ways are you making yourself available to His leadership in your life right now? How are you going to be able to look back with amazement at the end of 2015 for all God has done in and through your life to being recognition to His name! Feel free to respond in the comment section below so we can support one another towards reaching that hirer calling in the daily grind of our everyday lives!

Much love & prayer,

Matt & Blair

Here's to a new year, a new season, a new beginning of a new chapter in the same book of our family. Whatever 2015 has in store for us, we know one thing is for sure that we will face it hand in hand, remembering the truth about our God and how He is for us.
