As we prepare to celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary, or our Fruit and Flower anniversary, as we like to call it lol, we have been in a bit of a reminiscing mood this week!
Each year for our anniversary we try and stick to the original anniversary gift theme for that given year. For our Leather (3rd) anniversary, last year, Matt gave me a beautiful, empty leather photo album. He then surprised me with renewing our vows on our family’s farm, the place where he asked me to be his girlfriend on a warm June night over 8 years ago, then his wife on a snowy Christmas Day almost 5 years ago and where we had originally planned to build our forever home, expand our family and continue living our love story until we both heard God clearly calling us to be still and wait for things to settle. Matt also asked our lovely friend Ashley Kennedy (who we coincidentally met as she was one of our wedding photographers. She’s literally been there since day #1 of our marriage 🙂 ) to come along and take photos of us during each special moment of that special anniversary surprise that he had planned, so that we could print them off and fill the leather album with memories from our leather anniversary! 🙂 Thinking about that day almost a year ago still makes me heart swoon with how attentive and thoughtful Matt’s gift was. My husband has done many lovely and sentimental things for me throughout the years, and therefore it is difficult for me to say which would be better then the rest because each gesture holds a unique place in my heart and in our history, but this was by far the most romantic anniversary gift he has given me to date! 🙂
As we prepare to go away and celebrate our Fruit and Flower (or 4th) wedding anniversary we thought we would reminisce over that last anniversary with you and share some of those photos from that treasured season in our marriage. God has been so abundantly good to us in directing our path this year, just as He has in years past. It’s amazing how when you step aside, stop trying to make your plans His plans, and just simply say “Yes! Whatever you have for me Lord, Yes!” to Him how incredible life can become. It has truly been one adventure packed, joy and love filled year! His ways are truly always the best ways. His plan is truly always the most good plan. They definitely won’t always be what you anticipated, but they will always be more fulfilling, more wonderful then whatever you had dreamed up on your own.
We’ll see you in two weeks once we get back from our anniversary vacation/babmoon in paradise! Until then if you could join us in prayer for safe travels, amazing weather and some incredible memory making we would greatly appreciate it! 🙂 Cheers to 4 year!!
Much love & prayer,
Matt & Blair
