The Boone County Fair – During the beginning of the month we decided to go to the fair for a fun summer date night… and to meet one of Blair’s pregnancy cravings, Carmel Apples! We had such a great time walking around looking at the exibits, riding the merry go round, and watching the tractor pull. It was like stepping back in time to one of our first dates in high school, the summer before Matt left for UK. As fun as this years fair was though, we really look forward to next year, and each year after that when we get to take our little one with us!
Working on Baby Sweet P’s Nursery – It’s safe to say that we are in the home stretches of finishing our little Princess P’s nursery, thanks to her wonderful, dedicated, handy-man daddy who has been working hard to turn inspiration into reality. Thanks to Matt’s skills the nursery now is complete with closet built-ins, a crib, a glider and a vintage dresser that he refurbished into a changing table just for our little lady. The last things left to do is just add the finishing touches! It’s safe to say that the nursery is quickly turning into one of our favorite rooms in our home because of how much love and effort we have put into it and we can’t wait to bring our little sweet P home to it in just a few months!
Babymoon on the Beach – To celebrate our 4th wedding, or “fruit and flower” anniversary, as we like to call it we decided to go away for a relaxing week at the beach! Every year we go away to celebrate our anniversary but this is the last time we will go away together before becoming parents. So we felt it was especially appropriate to celebrate this new season in our marriage like we did at the beginning of it by going away on a second honeymoon, or babymoon together! 🙂
Every time we go away together is memorable in it’s own way, but we both agreed that this was by far the best vacation that we have been on to date because of all the down time we had just to spend with one another. 🙂
Jam Making – It took us all summer long but we finally got to use the 7 cups of Blackberries we picked from our own Blackberry Bramble in our backyard to make some homemade jam! This is the second year we’ve made jam and it was just as fun, relaxing and messy as last years session! We spent a whole overcast Sunday afternoon in our kitchen just us, a slew of mason jars and a stock pot cooking up a whole batch of sweet, blackberry goodness to be used in all types of baked goods, especially Jam Cake, through out the next year!
Memorial Day – It may have taken us all summer but we finally had some friends over for a cookout and pool party to celebrate Memorial Day! We had such a fun time grilling out, listening to music, swimming, talking and laughing with our friends, we only wish we would have had everyone over sooner, but we definitely look forward to next summer and having everyone over more often. 🙂
Much love & prayer,
Matt & Blair
